A 55-year-old Derry man has been given a suspended prison sentence at the local Magistrates Court for obtaining benefit he was not entitled to.
John Moore (55) of Derryview Terrace in the Waterside, claimed Income Support totalling £9,510 between 27 March 2007 and 10 December, 2012 while failing to declare capital.
He was given a two month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay courts costs of £52.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
