Finn Harps hopes of an Airtricity Division One play-off place received a setback last night when they were held to a two-all draw by Wexford Youths at Finn Park.
Former Letterkenny Rovers player Packie Mailey put the home side in front in the second minute when he finished off a one-two with Michael Funston.
Wexford drew level on 16 minutes through Ben Ryan beat Conor Winn from 25 yards.
Kevin McHugh put Harps back in front with his first goal of the season in the 57th minute.
McHugh spurned the opportunity to register his 174th goal for the club when he fired over from the penalty spot after referee, Simon Rogers, had awarded the spot kick for hand ball drawn to his attention by his assistant.
It was a miss that was to prove costly for Harps, as Danny Furlong showed McHugh how it should be done by slotting home a penalty just five minutes later.
Harps were forced to play the final five minutes after defender Caoimhin Bonner was shown a red card.
