The club is developing a new ground at Lowry’s, off Glen Road, incorporating playing pitch, changing pavilion and associated facilities.
The club’s commitment has been welcomed Sinn Féin councillor for Rosemount, Mickey Cooper.
Speaking after meeting with representatives of the club to ask for their facilities to be made available to the wider community, especially younger residents in the Rosemount and Glen Road areas, Cllr Cooper said he was “pleased” with the positive response from the club.
Cllr Cooper said: “I was delighted to hear of the steady progress being made in construction work and the willingness of the team to make the facility available for use by the wider community.
“I was also impressed to hear that the club is already developing further bids to install a 3G pitch at the site on Lowry’s Lane which will further increase the sporting infrastructure in the area.”
Cllr Cooper said he would emain in close contact with the club and work with them to develop programmes which would allow “all residents” of Rosemount and the Glen to avail of “this fantastic new facility”
