Shortly before 2.10am, two males, described as being aged in their mid teens,  broke into a parked car and attempted to enter a number of other vehicles parked in the Woodbrook area.

Both made off in the direction of Old Galliagh Road.

At around 7.30am, it was reported a window of a car parked in the Synge Court area  had been smashed sometime during the night and the inside of the car rummaged through.

Twenty minutes later, it was reported  a Yamaha YBR125 motorcycle had been stolen from outside a house at Stephens Court in Ballymagroarty.

It is believed it was stolen sometime between 2.15am and 7.30am.

A PSNI spokesperson said police took the incidents “seriously” and they were being actively investigated.

The spokesperson added: police were “firmly committed” to tackling the problems in the area and making all areas of Derry “a safer place for everyone.”

The spokesperson added: “Police are investigating a link between the incidents and would ask anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents or anyone who has any information to contact them at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
