Police in Derry are appealing for information after a 27 year old man sustained a serious eye injury when assaulted in the Collon Lane area of the city.
As this man was walking along Collon Lane close to the rear of College Glen at approximately 11.30am Friday, 25 July when he observed approximately three or four males near an electricity sub-station.
As he went passed them, one of the males approached him and asked if the strimmer that the he was carrying was for sale.
When he was told it was not, he assailant tried to grab it.
The rest of the males came over and one of them punched the injured party in the left eye.
The man sustained a serious injury to his eye which required hospital treatment.
A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who had any information to contact police at Strand Road on the non emergency 101 telephone number.
