Institute play host to North West neighbours Coleraine tonight in the Derry’s first home game back in the Danske Bank Premiership (kick off 7.45pm).
Manager Paul Kee goes into the clash at the Riverside boosted by Saturday’s away performance in which the Drumahoe side earned a deserved 2-2 draw against Dungannon Swifts, thanks to two goals from former Derry City striker Stephen O’Flynn.
Mark Forker and Lee Toland have been added to the squad for the clash against the Bannsiders as a result of their international clearance being received by Stute.
Aaron Walsh is also included after serving a one match ban carried over from last season.
Ahead of tonight’s game, the Institute committee has issued a call to the city community, asking the local football fans to make an extra effort in their support of the club this season.
Having struggled with attendances in recent years, the ‘Stute board are keen to broaden their support base beyond their regular following, in order to strengthen the club’s position and to become a greater social hub within the city district limits.
Having clutched onto survival in the shadow of Derry City and Belfast-giants Linfield while playing in the second tier, greater match day support is expected this season on returning to the Premiership since relegation in the 2009-2010 season.
A club spokesperson said: “It’s important as many people as possible devote the time to cheer on the ‘Riversiders’ to keep the progression of the club moving forward.”
