Van torcedPolice in Derry are appealing for information following a number of thefts and attempted thefts in the Watersider area of the city between midnight and 9.30am this morning.

A blue Peugeot 207 was stolen from outside a house at Rockport Park off the Limavady Road.

Two bicycles also stolen from the garage of a dwelling house in area were later recovered in Rockport Park.

At approximately 3.45am, a number of youths were observed at a Triumph motorbike which was also parked in the Rockport Park area.

It was later discovered that the steering lock had been broken.

Sometime between midnight and 8.00am, a garage at a dwelling house in the Ebrington Park area was broken into and a motorbike stolen.

However, the bike was abandoned further down the street.

A car which was parked in the Limavady Road area was entered sometime during the night and two wallets stolen from it.

Detectives would ask anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in these areas or who has any information to contact them at Strand Road on the non emergency 101 telephone number.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
