Six Derry groups are among 108 groups in the North sharing in a grants windfall of £895,132 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.
St. Columb’s Cathedral has been granted £10,000 to upgrade the heating system in the Deanery, which will be opened as a visitor attraction.
Gingerbread, the charity which supports one-parent families, is to receive £4,629 to support its Get Connected Project which is working with 100 one-parent families from the most disadvantaged areas of the city to get them connected to the information and support they need.
The Rath Mor 50+ Club, which provides opportunities for older people to increase their social, physical, cultural and academic skills, is £7,190 to organise a programme of social events.
The Glen Area Parent and Toddler Group, which provides care and support for families with babies and toddlers, has been granted £10,000 to provide play equipment and activities for families with young children.
The Rural Area Partnership in Derry Limited, which provides support and development for rural communities in the Derry City Council area, has been given £10,00 to install a new kitchen and training room to provide a space for groups to run training courses.
Hollybush Primary School in Culmore is £9,741 to provide play equipment for the nursery unit and primary school.
