Heavy showers, strong winds and tight pin positions made scoring very difficult in Dr the McLaughlin Cup played yesterday at North West Golf Club in Lisfannon.
This was reflected in the winning score of 34 points returned by Ray Gallagher (jnr), whose front nine of only 13 points was followed by a brilliant back nine of 21 points.
Marty McGrellis took second place, also on 34 points, the highlight of his round being a “two” at the 16th hole which was the only “two” scored on the course by the entire field.g
Winner of the Gross prize was Mark Davis with a nine over 79.
In third place on 31 points was Raymond Gallagher.
Back nine winner with 18 points was Neil Harkin.
Two golfers who were in the prizes were disqualified when they forgot to sign their cards.
