The Housing Executive is to include its Derry tenants in a survey being carried out to ascertain what needs to be done to maintain its properties in the future.
Information from the survey, being carried out on Executive properties across the North in association with the Department of Social Development (DSD), will also be used by the DSD to forecast future investment requirements.
The survey will be carried out by Savills, a firm of chartered surveyors which provides property survey services in the social housing sector.
It will commence towards the end this month and is expected to complete at the end of the year or early in the New Year.
It will involve around 20,000 homes of all types across the the North as well as garages, and commercial properties.
A Housing Executive spokesperson said all its tenants would be written to over the coming weeks to let them know about the survey.
The spokesperson added: “We would greatly appreciate the help of residents with the survey and we would assure them that the surveyors will not interfere with their property and inconvenience will be minimal.”
The first surveys will be carried out on multi-storey blocks of flats.
