Eglinton sprinter Jason Smyth has won gold at the IPC European Championships being held in Swansea, Wales.
The 27-year-old stormed to victory in the 100 metres T20 final in a time of 10.78 seconds.
Earlier, the double gold medallist at both the Beijing and London Paralympics, eased through his heat.
Smyth, who failed to qualified in last month’s Commonwealth Games, was only third fastest qualifier in a time of 11.40l but in the final he finished way out in front of Russian runner-up Artem Loginov who clocked 11.16.
Smyth is now considered one of the favourites for the 200 metres which takes place on Thursday,
Traditionally a T13 runner, Smyth was reclassified after testing showed a deterioration in his eye condition.
