Planning permission has been granted for state-of-the-art facilities at Banagher Gaelic Athletic Association Club in Feeny, Co Derry.
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has approved a new two storey sports and community building at Fr McNally Park.
The new facilities will consist of a multi-purpose hall, gym, multi-purpose rooms, changing rooms and storage plus car parking and landscaping.
Mr Durkan said the facilities would help to support both the rural community and economy through job creation in the construction and subsequent running of the centre.
He added: “This is a terrific boost for Feeny. Not only will it mean much improved sports facilities for the club, it will also serve as a good community facility.
“What’s more, it will mean further regeneration for this rural village.”
Mr Durkan concluded: “Decisions like this support my vision for a better environment and a stronger economy.”
