Four people have been arrested in Derry by police investigating a series of letter bombs sent to addresses in Northern Ireland and England.
Two men, aged 35 and 46, and two women, aged 21 and 22, were arrested in the city this morning and taken to the PSNI’s Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station for questioning.
The investigation is being led by detectives from PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch who have been working in close liaison with officers from the South East Counter Terrorism Unit in England.
Letter bombs intercepted in October were addressed to then PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott and Derry Chief Inspector Jon Burrows.
Packages were also sent to the Public Prosecution Service office on Limavady Road in Derry’s Waterside area as well to British armed forces recruitment centres in Oxford, Slough, Kent and Brighton.
