Sinn Féin Councillor Christopher Jackson has said he is glad that the issue of ownership of land at Eskaheen View in Derry’s Waterside has been settled.
Local residents had feared if the land had been acquired by a developer then houses would have been built blocking their view, recognised the world over.
However, Cllr Jackson said it had been “confirmed” the land was owned by Derry City Council and he had been assured there was “no plans” to develop it apart from the erection of a fence to secure the land.
Cllr Jackson added: “There is sense of relief amongst the residents that this issue has now been resolved and that there is no plans to develop the land in the future.”
