Two men arrested by police investigating the shooting of a 26-year-old man in Strabane during the week have been released.
The victim, named locally as Michael Neeson, from the Glebe, was shot in the leg and foot by masked men near a children’s playpark in the Ballycolman Estate shortly after 7.00pm on Thursday night.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for a gunshot wounds to his left foot and a gunshot wound to his right leg.
The arrested men, aged 29 and 20, were detained yesterday morning and taken to the PSNI’s Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station for questioning.
A PSNI spokesperson said they had been “released unconditionally” earlier today.
Srabane SDLP Councillor Patsy Kelly has condemned the shooting as “barbaric.”
