The start of the installation of new footpaths at Garden City off Derry’s Culmore Road has been welcomed by Sinn Fein Councillor Mickey Cooper.
Cllr Cooper said he was “delighted” the work and commenced and called on local residents to cooperate with the contractors involved.
He said: “Over the years the standard of the footpaths at Garden City have deteriorated to a point where they were becoming dangerous especially to the elderly and infirm.
“I am delighted that the DRD Road Service have begun work to replace the footpaths and bring them up to a standard that is needed.”
Cllr Cooper concluded: “I would ask the residents to co operate with the contractors while the work is being carried out.”
