Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has today briefed representatives of Palestinian support groups in Ireland on work being carried out in the European Parliament in support of the people of Gaza.
As chairperson of the Palestinian delegation at the European Parliament, she brief support groups on work being carried out in Brussels to put pressure on Israel to end the “occupation and continued slaughter” of Palestinians.
Speaking after the meeting, Ms Anderson said: “It is essential that Europe is seen to be delivering and working in support of local people and groups and information sharing such as this briefing is key to that.
“This is ahead of a delegation, which will be led by myself traveling to Palestine next week with the hope of seeing at first hand the devastation in Gaza.”
She concluded: “I welcome the latest ceasefire announcement regarding Gaza and hopefully it will lead to a resolution and the end of the continued onslaught on the Palestinian people.”
