SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins has said she was optimstic about a resolution being found to what she described as the “nightmare” Bradley’s Pass-Glengalliagh Road junction in the Shantallow area of Derry.

Speaking after a site meeting with Roads Division, Cllr Bradley said a survey was to be a carried out to assess the volume of traffic.

She added: “Hopefully, a solution can be proposed.”

Cllr Dobbins had highlighted dangers to both motorists and pedestrians at the junction, describing it as “downright dangerous” due to increased traffic in the area following the construction of a new housing development.

She said: “I had highlighted the increase of traffic at this junction and the imminent dangers to both drivers and pedestrians.

“A representative from Roads division had agreed to a site meeting to see on-hand the problems.”

Cllr Dobbins concluded: “It has been agreed that a survey will be initiated to assess the volume of traffic and hopefully a solution can be proposed.”
