The Housing Executive has been called on to “state clearly” will the maintenance contract be fulfilled after a change of company.
The call comes from Councillor Tony Hassan, Sinn Fein’s housing spokesperson, who was speaking after being contacted by people within the Housing Executive who claimed the maintenance company holding the contract had told them they would unable to fulfil the full work schedule.
Cllr Hassan added: “While emergency works will continue I am concerned that scheduled works like the replacement of windows and doors will not be carried out leading to a deterioration of the current social housing stock.
“I am now calling on the Housing Executive to state clearly the position of the contract and whether the new contractor can meet their responsibilities in terms of housing maintenance.”
