One hundred new jobs are to be created with the opening of an extension at a care home in Co Derry.
Cornfield Care Centre, on Seascoast Road in Limavady, which already employs 120 people, is opening a new 52-bed unit after a £3.4m investment.
Eighty of the new jobs will be full-time posts.
Owned and managed by husband and wife team Jervis and Jennifer Nutt, it first opened in 1999 and the latest expansion will see it increase to 127 beds dedicated to the care of the frail, elderly and Alzheimer’s/dementia sufferers.
The new purpose-built facility will combine state-of-the-art nursing equipment with accommodation services.
It is also hoped the new unit will provide additional business to local traders who provide food and medical supplies.
