A pilot project which will allow Royal Mail customers in Derry to pick up their parcels on a Sunday for the first time, has been welcomed by MLA Colum Eastwood.
Derry’s sorting office at Great James Street and Belfast’s South and Central delivery office will open between noon and 4.00pm from this Sunday.
The move is designed to make it easier for online shoppers who are not at home during the day to get their parcels.
Mr Eastwood said project would be weleomed many Royal Mail customers as well as carriers and retailers.
The SDLP representative added: “Many of us are all too aware of how frustrating and inconvenient it can be when we miss the delivery of a parcel and find it difficult to collect it from the delivery office because the opening hours are unsuitable.”
Mr Eastwood concluded: “The extension of opening hours will also be good news for carriers and retailers in terms of cost saving on redelivery.”
