A third man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in a shipping container at Tilbury Dock, Essex, England last month.
The 47-year-old man from Dungannon, was arrested at Liverpool Ferry Port by Merseyside Police and is due to be transferred to Essex later for questioning.
He has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over the death of Meet Singh Kapoor (40), one of 35 people from Afghanistan, including 15 children, discovered in a container on 16 August which had been shipped in from Belgium.
Two lorry drivers from Derry are currently in custody charged in connection with the death.
Timothy Murphy (33), of Elmgrove in the Buncrana Road area of the city, and Stephen McLaughlin (34), originally from Carndonagh in Inishowen, Co Donegal, with an address at Rose Park in Limavady, are charged with conspiring to facilitate illegal entry into the UK when they appeared separately at Chelmsford Magistrates Court in Essex.
Both are charged with between 1 and 17 August last, having conspiring with other persons unknown to do an act, namely clandestinely convey 35 Afghan nationals by sea in to an English port, which facilitated the commission of a breach of immigration law.
They are due to appear at Basildon Crown Court in November.
