A commitment from the Western Health and Social Care Trust to install a Family Support Hub Coordinator in the Outer West of Derry has been welcomed by Sinn Fein Councillor Eric McGinley.
Cllr McGinley said Sinn Fein looked forward to seeing the appointment take place “at the earliest opportunity.”
He said: “At a recent child poverty seminar convened by Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin, the WHSCT representatives in attendance fully accepted the need and the rationale for a Family Support Hub in the Outer West area.
“It is the long expressed view of Sinn Féin that the delivery of early intervention services in this locality will best be progressed through the creation of a distinct and separate family support hub.
“The need for such a dedicated and focused arrangement has been well articulated based on the challenges facing families across the Outer West area.”
Cllr McGinley concluded: “Sinn Féin welcomes the stated commitment of the WHSCT to support the installation of a hub coordinator and we look forward to seeing this happen at the earliest opportunity.”
