Police are hunting three youths after a creeper burglar fled a house in Derry’s Waterside after he was disturbed by the householder.
The incident occurred in Knightsbridge at around 7.00am yesterday when a woman woke to find a youth in her home.
He made off and was seen to join up with two others outside the house.
A short time later, a man reported that his grey Volkswagen Golf had been stolen from nearby Sevenoaks.
It was reported to have been driven in an erratic manner in the Victoria Road area.
It was later found in a park at Caw shortly before noon yesterday.
An attempt to set the car on fire failed.
PSNI Detective Constable Finlay has appealed for information.
He said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw the three youths, or noticed the car anywhere about the city.”
He said information could be given on the police non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, it could be provided to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
