Two people have been rescued from a house fire in the Waterside area of Derry.
Firefighters, using breathing apparatus, rescued a 31-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman from a mid-terrace house at Gortfoyle Place after fire broke out in the living room.
Both received treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene by ambulance personnel.
A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire “appeared accidental.”
The spokesperson added “sounding” smoke alarms alerted occupiers to the fire.
Fire crews from Crescent Link and Northland Road stations attended the incident which occurred shortly before 5.00am on Saturday last – details of the blaze have just been released.
