A another section of the Buncrana Road in Derry is to be closed next week as road improvement works begin on the busy thoroughfare.
Preliminary work will start from Branch Roundabout to Skeoge Roundabout on Saturday week, 20 September, with the main resurfacing being undertaken between 27 September and 28 September.
The scheme is expected to be substantially completed by 28 September.
The majority of the work will be undertaken between 9.30am to 4.00pm.
For particular operations it will be necessary to close certain lanes of the carriageway.
For preliminary excavation works it will be necessary to close the road.
The road will be closed on Saturday, 20 September, from 6.00am to 6.00pm and on Sunday, 21 September from 5.00am to 5.00pm.
Additionally, for the final surfacing works, it will be necessary to close the road on Saturday, 27 September, from 6.00am to 6.00pm and on Sunday, 28 September, from 5.00am to 5.00pm.
A diversionary route via A515 Skeoge Link, B521 Glengalliagh Road, B522 Templemore Road and vice versa will be signposted.
Access for residents and business users will be maintained.
Announcing the start of the roadworks, Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said the scheme would “greatly improve” the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this section of “this important road.”
