A candlelight vigil was held in Derry last night aimed at highlighting the need for more to be done to tackle suicide.
The vigil, staged outside Joseph’s Church in Galliagh, was organised by Independent Councillor Dee Quigley to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.
Cllr Quigley, uncle of young Galliagh teen Andrew Quigley who took his own life earlier this year after being refused help for a drug and alcohol addiction, is campaigning for a detox centre to be set up in the city.
Cllr Quigley, who was elected on to the newly-formed Derry City and Strabane District Council earlier this year, has called on civic and health representatives to do more to tackle the problem of suicide.
