Figures showing deaths on farms have halved over the past year have been welcomed by Derg Sinn Féin Councillor Kieran McGuire .
However, despite the latest figures showing deaths on farms had fallen from 11 in the previous year to four this year, Cllr McGuire said farmers must not be complacent.
Cllr McGuire, a member of the Derry City and Strabane Distrcit Council, added: “We must strive to bring this figure down to zero.
“I would like to thank the Minister Michelle O’Neill and her Department in being proactive in promoting safety on farms.”
I would appeal to everyone who either works or visits a farm to keep safety in mind so we can eliminate fatal accidents on farms.”
