Police in Derry are appealing for information about what they have described as a “criminal damage incident with sectarian overtones” in the Waterside area of the city last night.
waWAAccording to Inspector Declan McGrath, the PSNI sector commander, a number of youths banged on the front door and windows and shouted “abusive sectarian remarks” at the resident of a house in Dennett Gardens.
It is the third such incident in the area in a week, and Insp. McGrath called on “responsible people” in the community to “rally round” their neighbours and use their influence to bring the abuse to an end.
He said information on the incidents could be given to police on the 101 non-emergency number or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
