Seven “bouncers” in Derry are to be investigated for possible breaches of the licensing laws, police in the city have revealed.
On Saturday night, police accompanied by Security Industry Authority (SIA) officials and the police District licensing officer, carried out checks of door supervisors at a number of city centre premises.
Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan, the area commander, said the operation was designed to ensure the safety of those who enjoy the normal weekend social scene in the city centre.
He added: “If an establishment employs door staff as part of licensing requirements, then the staff must be SIA-accredited.”
