DUP leader Peter Robinson is to quit the Stormont Assembly before next year’s election, former Health Minister Edwin Poots has claimed.
Mr Poots, who was yesterday replaced as Health Minister by Jim Wells, has said the First Minister would leave the post within the next couple of months.
Mr Poots, speaking on BBC Radio Ulster this morning, said his party leader still had his support.
Also axed in Mr Robinson’s reshuffle of the party was Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland who has been replaced by Mervyn Storey.
Mr McCausland has been appointed chair of the culture, arts and leisure committee, replacing Michelle McIlveen who replaces Mr Storey as the education committee chair.
