Proposals to move children’s heart surgery services to Dublin rather than England has been welcomed by Derry MLA Maeve McLaughlin.
The Sinn Fein representative, chairperson of the Stormont Health Committee, was speaking after a panel of experts recommended moving children’s heart surgery services from Belfast to Dublin.
Ms McLaughlin said: “It is clear that we need an All-Ireland solution to this issue.
“Children should not have to travel to England for surgery when it is available on the island.
“This report has not been made public yet and I am calling for parents of children affected to have access to it.”
She concluded: “This will be the first item I will be raising with the new health minister at the health committee meeting today.”
