Police in Derry are investigating the suspected poisoning of a Peregrine Falcon in the city.
The bird, a protected species, was found in the grounds of St Columb’s Cathedral on Saturday.
Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan, the Foyle Area Commander, said the falcon (similar to one pictured on right) was well known to the local community and had become a tourist attraction.”
He added: “Parishioners and local people who liked to watch the falcon are understandably very upset by what has happened.”
CI Callaghan said information could be given on the police non-emergency 101 telephone number 101.
Alternatively, it could be provided to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
