Police in Derry have said the death of the student nurse in the city in early hours of yesterday morning was “not suspicious.”
A 21-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of Kellyanne Teggart, who was being questioned at the PSNI’s serious crime suite at Antrim police station, has been released by police.
Leanne (19), from Portaferry in Co Down, was found with fatal injuries at the bottom of stairs at a flat in Cromore Gardens in Creggan around 2.30am.
She died from her injuries in Altnagelvin Hospital.
She had been studying to become a nurse at the Magee campus of the University of Ulster.
Confirming the arrested man had been released, Detective Inspector Michael Harvey said as a result of enquiries and after studying the results of a post mortem examination, detectives did not believe the death was suspicious.
DCI added: “A 21 year old man arrested at the time has been released unconditionally. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
