Derg Sinn Féin Councillor Maolíosa McHugh has urged people to be vigilant to lottery fraud after being contacted by a number of people in the Castlederg area who recently received scam letters.
Cllr McHugh was speaking after he was contacted by concerned residents in the area who had received letters from “FIFA Euromillons” informing them that they have won money in a postcode lottery.
Cllr McHugh said: “This notification is a fraud. I have raised the issue with the PSNI at a recent PCSP meeting for them to monitor.”
He concluded: “I would remind people not to respond to such communications or give out personal details, especially if it’s a competition you have not entered.”
