The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has been called on to fit PVC windows in the remainder of its homes in the Strabane district.
The call comes from Sinn Fein Cllr Kieran McGuire who said residents throughout the Strabane district had been in contact with his party’s office over recent months complaining about the state of the windows in their homes.
Cllr McGuire revealed Sinn Féin had been in contact with the Housing Executive on a number of issues including the need for window replacement schemes.
Cllr McGuire added: “Some of the current wooden windows are losing energy, beginning to rot and some homes have windows that do not even open.
“The Strabane district is an area with high deprivation levels- fuel poverty is already a massive issue.
“People are losing heat in their homes due to drafty windows- this must be addressed urgently.
“I spoke to the Housing Executive again this week to have an urgent look at the state of the windows across the district and see what can be done to bring forward a project for their replacement as speedily as possible.
