Work carried out by the Roads Service to alleviate flooding problems on a pedestrian path in the Riverside Terrace area of Strabane have been welcomed by local Sinn Fein Cllr Carina Carlin.
Cllr Carlin said residents were “delighted” the problem was “sorted out.”
Cllr Carlin said: “Whenever it rained, water was flowing from the adjoining hard surfaced area beside Abercorn Cottages and flooded this pedestrian path to the front of homes on Riverside Terrace leaving the residents stranded until this surface water subsided.
“Local residents spoke to me before the summer in relation to the issue asking if I could make representations to see if anything could be done to address this long-standing problem.”
Cllr Carlin concluded: “Having subsequently lobbied Roads Service on the issue I now wish to commend the job of work that it has carried out and by providing a gravel verge on the left side of the path to improve drainage and by building up the path through resurfacing residents are delighted that the problem now appears to have been sorted.”
