Police in Derry are appealing for information after a report of an assault on a woman in the Bogside area of the city in the early hours of this morning.
PSNI Inspector Sam Shearer said the incident occurred shortly before 2.15 while the woman was sitting on a wall close to a zebra crossing on Westland Street.
Insp Shearer added: “It is believed that an unknown male pulled the female’s hair and tore her dress during the incident.
“The male is described as wearing a puffa style jacket and enquiries are continuing.”
Insp Shearer appealed to anyone who saw the incident to contact police.
He said: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact Police at Strand Road on the non emergency number 101.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
