St Patrick’s Athletic 6 Finn Harps 1
Hopes of an all-North West FAI Cup final have been dashed after Finn Harps suffered a heavy 6-1 semi-final defeat by St Patrick’s Athletic at Inchicore this afternoon.
Former Derry City midfielder, Cillian Brennan, put the Dubliners ahead in the 20th minute.
Packie Mailey brought Harps level in the 29th minute but goals from Sean Hoare and Conan Byrne put Pat’s firmly in control of the tie before the break.
Brennan put the game out of Harps’ reach with his second and his side’s fourth goal in the 65th minute.
Christy Fagan (70) and Conan Byrne (77) completed the rout.
Harps’ woe were compounded when Gareth Harkin was sent off, a decision which saw the Donegal side’s manager Ollie Horgan banished to the stands.
Pat’s will face the winner of the second semi-final between Shamrock Rovers and Derry City which kicks off at 3.55pm this afternoon at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.
