A 27-year-old Derry man has appeared at the city’s Magistrates Court on a number of charges in connection with a two-car crash in the city earlier this year in which a woman had to be cut free by emergency services.
The woman sustained a number of non life-threatening injuries in the collision – involving a silver Ford Puma and a red BMW – which occurred at around 4.45pm on Creggan Road close to its junction with Helen Street on 31 March.
Emmett Paul Coyle, of Hawthorn Drive, is accused of being the driver of the BMW.
He is charged dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen of breath, damaging a police vehicle, resisting arrest, failing to report an accident in which an injury had occurred and assaulting two police officers.
Charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to stop at an accident in which an injury had occurred and assaulting a police officer were withdrawn.
He is due back in court again on 17 October next.
