Parents have been called on to be “more vigilant” following an suspicious approach to an eight-year-old girl by a masked man in the Elmvale area of Culmore late on Saturday afternoon.
The call comes from SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins who said the fact the man was wearing a mask was “very worrying.”
Cllr Dobbins added: “This happened when there was still daylight and the young girl has given a good description to police.
“I am urging parents everywhere to ensure they know where their children are and to remind their children not to talk to strangers no matter what.”
