Derg Sinn Féin Councillor Maolíosa McHugh has met with Joe McHugh, Irish Minister of State for Gaelteacht Affairs and Natural Resources at the NWRCBG conference.
Speaking afterwards, Cllr McHugh described the meeting as “both useful and positive.”E
He added: “During the course of the meeting we discussed many obstacles to cross border mobility faced by people of the Strabane district on a daily basis and ways in which we can work together to overcome these.
Two of the main topics of discussion were Irish medium education and the A5 road project.”
Cllr McHugh concluded: “What is needed is an approach in which there is meaningful dialogue at both a political level and at a local level and where all parties work together to find agreement on important issues faced by people living in border areas.”
