Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan has called on people living in the Culmore area to immediately contact police if they see anyone acting suspiciously in the area.
Cllr Hassan’s call comes after an eight-year-old-girl was approached by a masked man driving a white van in the Elmvale area late on Saturday afternoon last.
Cllr Hassan said: “There are concerns in the local community on hearing this news. Parents are rightly worried and I would appeal to anyone with information, or seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact the police straight away.”
He concluded: “It’s also important for parents to remind their children of dangers of talking to strangers and what they should do if approached.”
