The announcement by the Energy Minister Arlene Foster of an extension of Renewable Heat Incentive has been welcomed by Derry Sinn Fein Councillor Paul Fleming.
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will provide long term financial support for non-domestic properties wishing to switch from conventional heating to renewable heating solutions, such as biomass; heat pumps and solar thermal.
Councillor Paul Fleming said with many consumers looking for ways to incorporate renewable energy as a method of heating businesses and non-domestic properties, the scheme would enable them to select the latest technology at an affordable price.
He added: “It is vital that schemes such as this are utilised as they not only provide valuable assistance to those installing heat systems, but they are offering a sustainable heating option fit for the 21st century.”
The RHI will be open to those domestic customers wishing to accredit renewable heat installations.
All eligible installations commissioned since 1 September 2010 will be able to avail of the incentive payments and the scheme will be administered by DETI (Department of Enterprise, Trade and Industry).
