City of Derry Spartan Alan Bogle took the runners-up spot in the Comber Cup crosscountry 8k host by Ballydrain Harriers at the Billy Neill Playing Fields in Comber, Co. Down – the first race of the 2014/14 Northern Ireland Crosscountry League.
The Derry runner posted a time of 27.02 to clinch second place behind winner, former Northern Ireland and Ulster junior crosscountry champion Brendan Teer (East Down AC), who broke the tape in 26.25.
Mark McKinstry (North Belfast Harriers) finished third in a time of 27.15.
Next up for Bogle is next weekend’s Mourne Skyline MTR.
