Patients attending the x-ray department at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry next week are being advised to expect delays due to industrial action by radiographers.
The Society of Radiographers said its members will be participate in a week of industrial action beginning with a four-hour stoppage from 9.00am to 1.00pm on Monday next
The Western Health and Social Services Trust said as result of the strike action, a “limited range” of radiology services will be available to patients.
A Trust spokesperson said: “During this time urgent and emergency examinations will still be carried out. Patients who had appointments for the morning of Monday 20 October have been contacted directly to rearrange these.”
The spokesperson added management and staff were “working closely” with local trade union representatives to minimise any disruption to services during the planned industrial action.
The spokesperson added: “Essential services will be maintained throughout the period of action. However, patients may experience some delays throughout the week of industrial action.”
