Dennis O Connell (24) came out on top in difficult stormy conditions to win yesterday’s Saturday Stableford at City of Derry.
He scored 40 points despite blanking the long par five “Dermot’s” and the short par three “Quarry” holes to win on a count back from left hander Rob Jefferson (12) who was consistency personified returning 20 points on each nine for his score.
Malachy Armstrong (28) took third place with 39 points, the two shots he received at two of the par fives proving vital in getting him on to the podium.
Members are reminded that next Saturday’s (25th October) competition, the last before the clocks change, will be a four-man team event with the best two scores to count on each hole.
