Roads Service is to examine a number of traffic issues along the Rosemount/Park Avenue of Derry to improve safety for pedestrians, Sinn Fein councillor for the area, Mickey Cooper, has said.
Welcoming the announcement, Cllr Cooper said a number of residents, including many with children, had complained about the speed and conduct of traffic driving through the area.
Cllr Cooper was speaking after meeting with DRD Roads Service staff in the area to discuss a range of issues.
He said: “I am pleased that they are going to conduct a traffic survey in front of Brooke Park as a number of residents have expressed concerns that cars were driving too fast in this area.
“In addition I have been assured that they will also bring forward proposals to address other safety issues caused by the high volume of traffic going through the area which will hopefully alleviate some of the problems being experienced by local residents”
