Founded in 1999 by Lord Puttnam, they recognise the life-changing impact of an inspirational teacher on the lives of the young people they teach.
Gavin has been an exceptional teacher of Technology and Design and Engineering at St Mary’s College for 20 years.
Never one to stand still, he recently developed an innovative and creative “DigiTech” curriculum which has inspired his students to develop the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience to equip them for an increasingly technological and ever-changing world.
Through his dedication, commitment and passion, he has helped pupils engage more in STEM (Science, Technology and Engineering) subjects, achieve the highest possible standards and helped prepare them for STEM-related careers.
The Pearson Teaching Awards are open to every school in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The awards were established by Lord Puttnam in 1998 and are managed by the Teaching Awards Trust, an independent charity.
The Trust’s mission is to celebrate excellence in education.
The Teaching Awards are sponsored by Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, with 40,000 employees in more than 80 countries, working to help people of all ages to make measurable progress in their lives through learning.
