A second man, aged 25, has been arrested following the discovery of a cannabis factory in Co Derry.
A 58-year-old arrested at the scene last night remains in custody following the find of almost 900 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of £400,000, in a house on Farkland Road, near Foreglen, just off the main Derry to Dungiven Road.
Chief Inspector Alan Hutton, the Area Commander, described the find as “significant.”
He added: “This was one of the largest finds in the North West for some time, and comes just a few weeks after police seized £1m worth of plants near Portadown.
“This was a sophisticated operation. The house had blacked out windows and a heat supply to the plants. Inside were about 900 plants at different stages of growth.
“This find shows that cannabis cultivation is a Northern Ireland wide activity. It can occur in both urban and rural areas.”
The plants were uncovered by Limavady neighbourhood officers on patrol of the rural area last night.
